I'm 77 and just bought a 2008 Jeep Liberty only to find out it has a MAJOR SAFETY defect . The vehicle in my opinion is in 95% condition and after highway test driving purchased the vehicle.
The next day and every day since the vehicle jumps out of 1st gear and stalls. This happens without warning and approximately within every 10 shifts in traffic i.e. at stop lights and signs with potential rear collision and making left turns from the middle lane across oncoming traffic with the likely hood of being "T Boned". I signed an "AS IS" statement with the dealership so have no legal recourse other than the BBB or some compensation through Jeep.
I realize the recall if any has probably expired however after looking at Jeep problems on the Internet have found JOG problem to be common place in other model years besides mine. The cost to repair is a third of the cost of the vehicle IF parts are available.
After being a safety superintendent in the Air Force for 20 years and a civilian safety consultant to the Air Force on the Space Shuttle have some insight as to product safety and reliability. I would appreciate your help in this matter.
